This wide angle shot from the front gives us a better idea of the vast amount of work that's present.  Wilson Turner, the originator of the Black Canyon project and author of The Rock Art of Black Canyon, feels that this boulder is the result of repeated carving by many peoples over thousands of years.  He further feels that it might be a type of tally in which various tribes record the number of times their group has traveled through the canyon.  Whatever the case, it's one impressive sight!
