The deeply incised arrow certainly is rather unique.  It doesn't appear to be prehistoric.  The partial shelter under it seems to be blackened by fires and in old photos a rough rock wall can be seen that would have made it much more snug.  We guess that its purpose will probably never be known but it does create a nice little mystery!
