Catalina Island Wildflowers
As the deserts began to warm up, we decided to shiver our timbers and go aquatic. Our destination was Avalon on Catalina Island, a salty hour and a half from Dana Point Harbor. Our plan was to explore the trails on the east end of the island and to ultimately end up at the old Renton Mine. The Renton was a gold mine, albeit a not very successful one. There is still evidence of past mining in the area. There is also a geocache there, and one along the trail leading to the mine. Another foray to the Wrigley memorial and its associated geocaches is also on the agenda. So, slap the dust off your Stetson and join us on our island adventure!
