No, we can't tell you where they are other than Death Valley. As they say in the spy movies, "We could tell you, but then we'd have to kill you." For awhile on the hike we thought that this was what Dan had in mind! This eight hour hike had it all. There was heat, major elevation changes, soft sand, boulders, slippery near vertical climbs and sheer cliffs. Was it worth it? Oh, yes! Archaeological sites in the area date as far back as 10,000 years ago, or 3,000 years before the pyramids were begun in Egypt! Our destination isn't that ancient, but it's still cloaked in antiquity. These shelters that we're seeking and the pictographs they contain are virtually unknown. A long, hard hike is a small price to pay to view them.
