The remains of a crude stove are near the entrance, hinting at a multi-use strategy for this subterranean structure. It's really difficult to separate the various layers of time in locations where mining has had several revivals. The miners were great scavengers and built over older sites as well as re-using older materials and machinery or incorporating those older parts into new construction.
