This area, too, continues to show signs of past habitation.  The lavender color of this glass fragment means that it was likely produced before WWI.  From 1890 to 1920 the majority of clear glass was treated with manganese dioxide as a clarifying agent.  However, when such glass is subjected to lots of sunlight it begins to turn a light pink to lavender and even a moderately dark amethyst color.
