Behind the campsite decor is the White Cap Quarry. A while ago, some three hundred million years give or take, a large graveyard of oyster like marine animals formed in a shallow sea. These marine animal remains, which were mostly calcium carbonate, were added to by additional calcium carbonate precipitated out of this primordial sea. The whole deposit was then metamorphosed and compressed by geologic processes and further deposition. High temperature intrusions of hot magma further aided the metamorphosis and all that remained was for the deposit to be faulted upward and uncovered by erosion. A few miners found it and here we are!
