Finally, around a rocky knoll, we find the old mine site that we're looking for.  Mining first began in this part of the Old Woman Mountains in the 1880's when Chemehuevi Indians showed the location of a spring to a prospector.  With a reliable water source the miners quickly began to exploit the silver and gold bearing limestone.
