These lizards are pretty much omnivorous. They'll eat berries, leaves and flowers in a pinch, but prefer insects, small snakes and other lizards. Their large heads and powerful jaws are capable of crushing the skulls of smaller lizards. Obviously, picking one up isn't a good idea. They will bite and those powerful jaws are quite capable of drawing blood!
