The Black Canyon Rock Shelter is located near Heber in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. In the upper right of the interpretive panel is an artists rendering of what the shelter might have looked like in its later stages. The panel also lets us know that the shelter is thought to have been in use from about 900 years ago up until historic times. It's only a short hike to the shelter so let's get up there and take a look around.
