Soon the canyon bottom narrows and is crossed by rock dikes. There is a deep, moderately sized natural tank here. During a rainstorm the stream would fill the tank before plunging as a waterfall to the canyon bottom. Niki is crossing the face of the dry waterfall to get to a small shelter on the other side of the canyon.
