At the end of this twenty foot deep cave is a boulder blackened from innumerable cooking fires that likely extend back to the earliest inhabitants of the Stahl Site. On this blackened boulder are faint petroglyphs that have been pecked and scratched into the dark, smoke blackened patina of the boulder. The result is that the lighter color of the boulder itself emerges and the images appear white, almost as if painted.
