We're not sure whether these are the remains of the five stamp mill that was installed in 1863. It was promptly burned by Indians whose raid also resulted in the deaths of three miners. However, it was refurbished and used until at least 1920. A new owner installed a twenty stamp mill, possibly at the same location, but it was soon abandoned and the mill sold in 1939.
