This site seems tied to the Woman of the Cave fertility legend in which the sun impregnates the earth on the first day of spring to guarantee a season of growth and plenty. At this site, on the first day of spring, a shaft of sunlight creeps across the floor of the cave to enter the ceremonial bedrock mortar that you see in the center of this photo.
