Shortly after making our turn onto the road to Conejo Well, we make a stop. Our plan is to leave our backpacks here and switch to small daypacks for a cross country hike to the site of a prospect that's shown on the topographic map. It's pretty hot now so we're careful to take enough water and snacks to fuel us up.
