From the 1983 Historic Resource Study of Joshua Tree National Park, we know that the LCS crew found a claim marker that provided a name and location date of 1932 for the nearby Blind Mule Placer. They also noted that there was a "small metal cabin identical in details to that at the Mystery Mine." So, although our Mystery Mine cabin is no longer standing, this one seems alive and well! It was also noted in the report that magazines were found in the cabin here that were dated from the mid-1950's.
