As we finally leave the wash and enter Pinto Basin, we're amazed at how rugged the area is. We're also quite surprised to find a rare foxtail cactus! It has a very limited range and is distinguished by its black tipped, unhooked central spine and flowers that are pink with a darker mid-vein.
