A throaty roar startles us as a low flying plane struggles into the wind. Mohave's sharp eyes identifies it as a restored T-6 Texan Trainer. These planes were used to train pilots for WWII and gained a couple of nicknames, one of them was "The Pilot Maker." The other, "Old Growler," makes good sense once you've heard its 550 HP Pratt & Whitney radial piston engine in action!
