Finally, we come to the sunburst motif. During a 1984 summer solstice observation, an "intense, vertical, finger-like beam of sunlight" pierced the shadows of the shelter and pointed directly to the sunburst motif. Consequently, it's thought that this site may have been used by shamans to predict this important seasonal cycle which is tied to the food supply of the culture. It would have been the shaman's duty to watch, interpret and if necessary to intervene with the appropriate supernatural magic to maintain the seasonal balance which was so important.
