Springtime at Barrel Spring in the Piute Mountains
We awake to low clouds and a chilly wind. This comes as a bit of a surprise after the brilliant clear blue skies we experienced yesterday for our hike to the Lady Jeanne. Today, our goal is Barrel Spring near the southwestern tip of the Piute Mountains, roughly southeast of Essex. The elevation profile looks mellow, the distance is moderate and we're here! What better reason is needed? We guess that if a motive is actually necessary, it would simply boil down to curiosity. Besides, if the sun ever comes out, the wildflowers will be spectacular. Come on along, you just never know what might turn up!
