This site, CA-RIV-902, is similar to another "Red Lady" or "Painted Lady" site in Joshua Tree that also seems tied to the ancient telling of the sacred story of the "lone woman of the cave." This metaphor for the spring solstice and the beginning of the season of fertility relates the tale that a woman, or earth mother symbol, "went out one morning to urinate and, as she spread her legs wide, the rising sun penetrated her with his rays and she became pregnant."
