Today, only a scattering of historic buildings remains from that era. However, Peach Springs is now the center of the Hualapai Indian Reservation which encompasses a million acres, including a 108 mile stretch of the Colorado River. An excellent hotel, Hualapai Lodge, is located here and we soon were unloading gear into our room. Tonight we would be joined by Niki's mom, Jenny, and sister, Joyce, and final preparations for the hike would be made. This afternoon, though, we wanted to drive the 60 miles to the trailhead to check things out.
